Though the Boxer is a particularly smart breed of dog there is an idea that this knot is related to the amount of knowledge that a dog picks up. This is simply a myth. The large bump on the dogs head is actually the occipital bone which can be more prominent in individual dogs. I recently learned from an older breeder that the pointier the bump the nicer their head will be as an adult.
